Ten Year Treasury Rate: Graph of the Week 9/24/2012
The Graph of the Week shows the monthly average 10-Year Treasury Constant Maturity Rate from January, 1980 to this August 2012.
The data comes from the Federal Reserve's H. 15 Selected Interest rate data, downloaded from FRED, the St. Louis Fed's Economic Database.
This series started high, as Paul Volcker and the Fed was wringing the 1970's inflation out of the economy, and has been downhill since. With quantitative easing starting up again, I don't expect this rate to turn up soon, or at least until inflationary expectations start to build up again.
