Retail Price of Gasoline: Graph of the Week 9/3/2012
The Graph of the Week shows the U.S. average for the retail price of gasoline, by week, since January, 2000.
The data comes from the U.S. Energy Information Administration's This Week in Petroleum website. As you can see, we have not yet achieved the peak price from March of this year (which happened to be the month I traded in my SUV for a small car) nor May of 2011. We are still under the all-time high achieved in the summer of 2008.
That summer, we made a trip up to Toronto, and I remember filling up the car with gas there, while doing a liter to gallons and Canadian dollar to US dollar conversion, and then almost immediately wishing I hadn't done that.
